Walking down the sidewalk with my Irish Setter, Brody, on a warm summer night, I can’t help but thank God for the beautiful neighborhood I live in. I live in the Idyllwilde community in Parker, Colorado. Idyllwilde is a place where you know your neighbors. On a warm summer night, the streets are alive with kids on their bikes and people walking their dogs. The landscape is beautiful with views that go for miles and Ponderosa pines are dotted across the hillside. It’s not so rare to see a deer along the path.
Idyllwilde is located in the hills of Parker’s east side. The rolling hills of the landscape give many of the homes great views of either Pikes Peak and Rampart Range to the south or DTC, downtown and the front range mountains to the west and north.
Idyllwilde is a newer community that began construction in the mid 2000’s. There are still new homes being built in Idyllwilde today. There are many options for people who would like to purchase a home in Idyllwilde. Prices range from the mid 300’s to the upper 800’s and home size varies greatly. The lower priced homes start with an above grade square foot of just over 1500 square feet. Larger homes in Idyllwilde can be found with above grade square footage over 4000. All the homes in Idyllwilde also have basements.
Idyllwilde is one of the few communities in Parker that offer maintenance free homes. Not all homes in the community are maintenance free but if you are looking for maintenance free living there are usually several of these homes within Idyllwilde for sale at any given time. The maintenance free homes offer residents the luxury of front yard landscaping upkeep and snow removal. Idyllwilde is designed with a western theme. A windmill sits upon the hill beyond the clubhouse and most of the fencing within the Idyllwilde is split rail fence. The rich, warm color pallet of the homes in the community, add to the cozy, laid back country feel. And all the homes have covered front porches. Idyllwilde’s barn style, Grand Hall, community clubhouse is the center of community gatherings.
Throughout the month there is always a lot going on in the Idyllwilde community clubhouse. Each month there is men’s poker night, women’s bunko night, yoga, a book club, a stitching club, scrap booking and a moms group. Throughout the year you can find neighbors gathering for pool parties, Fourth of July, and a chili cook off, just to name a few. Residents can keep abreast of all the happenings with the monthly newsletter they get in the mail, which keeps everyone in the loop as to what’s going on in the neighborhood.
Enjoy reading? Join the Idyllwilde book club or visit the clubhouse where you can find a new book to read. Neighbors leave old books in the clubhouse for others to read and pick up a new one while they’re there. Enjoy your book near the fireplace in the clubhouse on a cool day or sit on the sprawling clubhouse deck, which overlooks the pool, hills of Parker and southern mountains. Another option is to find a comfy spot in Fika Coffee House. Yep, that’s right, Idyllwilde boasts it’s own coffee shop. Fika is located right next to the Grand Hall clubhouse. It’s a great place to grab a cup of coffee or a snack with a neighbor.
Idyllwilde has a great pool for summertime fun! The pool even has a water slide and play features for the little ones. There are enough lounge chairs for everyone and the views from the pool area are amazing. It’s a great way to spend a relaxing summer day in the sun.

Older kids that live in Idyllwilde will appreciate the short walk to school. Both Cimarron Middle School and Legend High School are both a hop, skip and jump away from home.
